I’m going to give you a tour of 7 of my all-time favourite music school fit outs from around the world, and the 7 big lessons you can learn from them to apply at your own studio. TOUR 1 : FRETVISION MUSIC SCHOOL
Jake’s music school features a prize wall in his waiting room that helps to keep his students excited as they earn points in his gamified music lessons. As students claim their rewards, other students see this and are inspired to achieve as well.
The first big lesson here is that gamification of music lessons can raise student engagement and retention at your music school.
TOUR 2 : SPARK SCHOOL OF MUSIC
Along with a prize wall, Nick’s studio has a fantastic ‘hip’ vibe; that’s intentional as he wanted to make a vibrant and relaxing space for his students and their families.
Nick has also created a hot-and-cold drink station for families that has their notice board right above it. This is a space where parents can meet each other, and also says ‘thank you’ to them for the money they are spending with you.
The second big lesson here is that you can enhance communication, community building, and goodwill with simple gestures.
TOUR 3 : THE MUSIC BOX
Katie has been one our members for a few years and refitted a new studio space in August this year. It has a slick, modern feel with classy branded photo feature walls.
The third big lesson here is feature walls that include your logo can be a great way to help boost your social media engagement with your families and students.
TOUR 4 : GOODTIME MUSIC ACADEMY
This is my school where we chose to sacrifice teaching space to create a large waiting room that included communal games, and a stage where we could host concerts and a seated audience. This was something that took many years to develop, but could you replicate this according to your scale?
The fourth big lesson here is creating fun communal spaces that allow for friendships to develop and performances to take place can help your students feel welcomed and appreciated.

TOUR 5 : MUSIC TECH STUDIOS
Chris boosts his music school revenue by including a shop selling musical instruments and supplies. Chris’ school also features a ‘Hallway of Fame’ photo wall that displays large framed photos of current students and teachers.
The fifth big lesson here is simply celebrating your students by displaying photos of them on the walls of your school can increase the level of ‘belonging’ your students and families can feel at your school.
TOUR 6 : FLAM TAP STUDIO
Brandon’s studio is continually being improved, but along with a feature wall displaying his logo, Brandon has developed a live AV-feed to a TV in the waiting room where parents can watch their child’s lesson take place in real time.
The sixth big lesson here is that allowing the families of your students to see your lessons taking place in real time can build a huge amount of trust in your services.
TOUR 7 : ROCK OUT LOUD ACADEMY
Mike (founder of the Rock Out Loud Live software) set out to build the ‘Disneyland of music schools’, and I think he has definitely achieved that. Each teaching room is named and themed uniquely, and features state-of-the-art equipment and resources for his students.
Mike has made seriously smart investments in his life that has lead to him being able to launch a music school like this from day, one rather than build it up from scratch.
The seventh big lesson here is thinking big about the theme of each teaching room in your music school can add fun and excitement for your students.
