A Passion for Music Education

For many young musicians, learning an instrument is more than just a hobby—it’s a gateway to self-expression, confidence, and personal growth. At MKA Music, founder Monika Miedzianowska has built a music school that not only nurtures talent but also fosters a supportive community where students can thrive.

"I am and will always be grateful for the opportunity to learn music throughout my life," says Monika Miedzianowska. "My parents nurtured my talents, and I had access to free music education, first in classical music and later in popular music. That experience shaped my belief that music education shouldn’t be a luxury. For many children, it’s a way to express themselves, gain confidence, and develop discipline—essential qualities in today’s fast-paced, digital world."

From the moment Monika Miedzianowska began their master’s degree in music, they knew their mission: to inspire and transform young lives through music, just as their mentors had done for them.

A Well-Rounded Music Education

MKA Music offers a diverse curriculum, with lessons in piano, guitar, ukulele, and singing. A special program for children aged 3 to 5 helps build musical foundations early, ensuring that even the youngest students are set up for success.

The school welcomes students of all ages, with an inclusive approach that encourages musical growth at every stage. "Everyone from the age of three is welcome in our community!" says Monika Miedzianowska.

Inspired by Musical Greats

Asked about musical influences, Monika Miedzianowska finds it hard to choose just one. "When I was immersed in classical music, I was deeply influenced by Polish jazz pianists like Leszek MoĆŒdĆŒer. Later, when I started singing, BeyoncĂ© became a huge inspiration. I also went through a phase where I was obsessed with electronic music—Little Dragon was on repeat!"

Today, their top musical inspirations include Jessie J (for her vocal abilities), Billie Eilish (for her songwriting), and Jorja Smith (for her unique vibe).

A New Approach to Music Education

Growing up in Eastern Europe in the 1990s, Monika Miedzianowska experienced a rigid and demanding music education system. "It was cold, strict, and straightforward. While it gave me a solid foundation, it didn’t boost my confidence. I was often yelled at and told I wasn’t as good as my classmates."

Determined to create a different experience for their students, MKA Music blends high-level education with a positive, encouraging atmosphere. "We want our students to make friends, stay motivated, and feel rewarded for their efforts—even if it’s just through words of encouragement."

Building a Strong Musical Community

MKA Music isn’t just a school; it’s a community. "Hearing an adult student say that starting lessons with us saved his life or watching children reluctant to leave after their lesson because they love learning music so much—those moments make me pause and appreciate what we’re building."

Parents recognize the impact too. "When I hear parents say they would change schools if their child’s teacher ever left MKA Music, it reinforces our mission. We don’t just teach music; we create a family around it."

Advice for Parents Choosing a Music Teacher

For parents seeking the right music teacher for their child, Monika Miedzianowska offers this advice: "Don’t focus solely on a teacher’s musical achievements. While it’s great to have an instructor who performs on big stages, their ability to inspire and nurture a love for music is what truly matters. Professional artists often see teaching as secondary, which can leave students without lessons for weeks due to touring schedules."

The Key to Success in Music

What sets successful students apart? "Understanding that progress requires effort. There’s no ‘I pay, so I expect results’ mentality at MKA Music. We provide the tools, but students have to use them. If you don’t practice, you’re not paying us to teach—you’re paying us to practice with you."

For vocal students, self-awareness is crucial. "The sound you produce is just as important as how it feels inside. Learning to truly listen to yourself is key, and recording lessons can help tremendously."

Opportunities Beyond Lessons

MKA Music offers more than just private lessons. Students perform at school concerts at least once a year and are encouraged to showcase their talent at various events. The school also helps students build an online portfolio—covering songwriting, demo recording, music video creation, social media management, and booking their first gigs.

A Bold Vision for the Future

MKA Music’s long-term vision is clear: to become the top music school in the Netherlands for children and young artists. "We want to make children fall in love with music while preparing them to pursue it professionally if they choose."

With its innovative approach, strong sense of community, and passion for music education, MKA Music is shaping the next generation of musicians—one student at a time.
